Our Story
The Inspirational Journey of Two Brothers:
Laxman Kale & Ram Kale – Founders of Pragati Press Tools India Pvt. Ltd.
In the small village of Barashi, Maharashtra, two brothers, Laxman Kale and Ram Kale, dreamed of building something extraordinary. Their journey began with humble beginnings, but their vision and determination would one day lead to the creation of one of the most trusted names in tool and die manufacturing: Pragati Press Tools India Pvt. Ltd.
In 1995, Laxman and Ram made the bold decision to move to Pune, seeking better opportunities and education. They enrolled in a Diploma in Tool and Die Making, equipping themselves with the skills and knowledge to turn their aspirations into reality. Starting their careers as Die Makers at Tata Motors in 2001, the brothers honed their craft and learned the ins and outs of the industry. However, their entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create something of their own drove them to take the next big step.
Humble Beginnings: The Birth of Pragati Engineering (2004)
In 2004, with unwavering determination, Laxman and Ram founded Pragati Engineering. They started small – a 500 sq. ft. rented space, two conventional machines, and a team of just two. But that was all they needed. With sheer hard work, they manufactured 39 tools that year, laying the foundation for their future success.
Building Momentum (2008 - 2012)
By 2008, their relentless pursuit of excellence paid off. Pragati Engineering expanded to a 2,500 sq. ft. rented space, added their first wire cut machine, and increased their team to nine. That year, they produced 79 tools, doubling their initial output.
By 2012, the brothers were ready to take another big leap. They purchased their own 6,000 sq. ft. facility, added more advanced machinery, including a 2.5Mtr X 1.8Mtr VMC, and achieved the prestigious ISO certification. With a dedicated team of 19 employees, they produced 139 tools that year.
Scaling New Heights (2015 - 2018)
The year 2015 marked a turning point for Laxman and Ram. They acquired a sprawling 36,000 sq. ft. land and invested heavily in new machinery and manpower. Their workforce grew to 29, and they manufactured an impressive 179 tools. The brothers continued to push the boundaries, always striving for better quality and efficiency.
By 2018, they expanded their operations further, establishing a Tool Design Office and adding advanced machinery, including a 400-ton press and a 10-ton crane. Their unwavering commitment to excellence allowed them to produce 269 tools with a team of 45.
Becoming Industry Leaders (2021 - Present)
In 2021, the brothers completed the construction of a 40,000 sq. ft. shed with a 5,000 sq. ft. office, added 15 new conventional machines, and further strengthened their production capabilities with additional VMCs and cranes. With 59 employees, they successfully manufactured 400 tools.
By 2023, Pragati Press Tools India Pvt. Ltd. had grown into a powerhouse in the industry, boasting cutting-edge machinery like a 300-ton spotting press, a 5-axis laser cutting machine, and an 800-ton press. Their workforce expanded to 72, and they produced an incredible 490 tools that year.
Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter (2024)
As the company looks to the future, Laxman and Ram are set to take another significant step. In 2024, they announced the purchase of a new 40,000 sq. ft. factory, where they plan to expand their operations further.
This facility will be equipped with 10-12 new machines and will allow the brothers to start sheet metal production while targeting the manufacture of 600+ high-quality tools annually.
A Legacy of Hard Work and Vision
Laxman and Ram Kale’s journey from a small village in Maharashtra to becoming the founders of a thriving business is a testament to the power of vision, hard work, and perseverance. They built Pragati Press Tools India Pvt. Ltd. from the ground up, with a relentless focus on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Their story is not just about success in business but about inspiring others to dream big and work tirelessly to turn those dreams into reality. The brothers’ journey serves as a reminder that no matter where you start, with determination and the right mindset, anything is possible.
